Descrizione

-----

United for Nepal is an initiative taken by the students of the Master’s Degree Course in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance, of the University of Padova, Italy.
Our main area of interest includes promoting the education in Nepal, by improving the situation of Nepalese children at school. This action corresponds to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal number 4 “Quality Education”.

United for Nepal 2019 has been started, comprising of two main activities: a charity event that will take place at Centro Universitario Zabarella, Padova, on the 25th of May 2019, and a crowdfunding activity on an online platform from May to the beginning of September.
In 2018, donations from the campaign were used for (1) delivering uniforms for children of the schools in Terai; (2) providing three sewing machines to rural women, in Terai, who have been trained on how to use them. In this way, after training women have become able to generate income by producing such products as school bags, climate-friendly clothes, pencil bag, wallets for local and then international markets. The third (3) contribution was delivering stationery to students in Sindhupalchok and (4) granting the budget needed for the annual extension of the internet connection in Sindhupalchok.

Targets of the 2019 campaign are mostly follow-up and extension of previous years’ actions which aims to improve the quality of educational environments for disadvantaged students as well as facilitate the empowerment actions of the local community.
