Dal 1987 è professoressa di economia e sviluppo internazionale presso il Dipartimento di economia dell'Università di Atene. Attualmente è anche membro del comitato esecutivo dell' African capacity building foundation e co-chair della commissione indipendente per l'uguaglianza sostenibile della Progressive alliance of socialists and democrats, research associate presso l'Osservatorio ellenico e membro del gruppo Euro 50. È stata presidente del consiglio di amministrazione della Banca nazionale di Grecia e presidente della Hellenic banking association (2015-2016). Ha ricoperto il ruolo di ministro del lavoro e della previdenza sociale (2010-2011), ministro dell'economia, della competitività e della navigazione (2009-2010), membro del Parlamento ellenico (2007-2012), direttore del Centro di sviluppo dell'Ocse a Parigi ( 2003-2007), consulente economico internazionale del primo ministro greco (1993-1996) e direttore generale del Centro di pianificazione e ricerca economica (1982-1986).

Louka T. Katseli is Professor of International Economics and Development at the Department of Economics of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (since 1987), Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece in Cyprus, member of the Executive Board of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), and Co-chair (with Poul N. Rasmussen) of the Independent Commission for Sustainable Equality, Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats - S&D, (Progressive Society), Research Associate at the Hellenic Observatory, London School of Economics and Political Science, and member of the Euro 50 Group (2000-). She was Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece and Chair of the Hellenic Banking Association (2015–2016). She has served as Greece’s Minister of Labour and Social Security (2010-2011), Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping (2009-2010), member of the Hellenic Parliament (2007-2012), Director of the OECD Development Centre in Paris (2003-2007), International Economic Advisor to the Greek Prime Minister (1993-1996) and Director General of the Center of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) (1982-1986). Prof. Katseli holds a Ph.D. (1978) in International and Development Economics from Princeton University and has served as Assistant and Associate Professor of Economics at Yale University’s Department of Economics and the School of Organization and Management (1977-1985). She has published extensively in the areas of international and institutional economics development.
